WATERING YOUR LAWN THE RIGHT WAY

lawn irrigation

Right lawn irrigation is very important in case if you want to create an attractive and healthy lawn. Avail yourself of the following tips in order to create a good system of lawn-sprinkling.
· Sometimes the water run off happens because of grass leaves that are too thick. If a leave thickness is more than 1.5 centimeter you should trim the grass. Do not let the grass leaves spread. Trim your lawn according to its grade.
The best season for this procedure is late summer or early autumn. Right grass trimming, lawn irrigation and applying fertilizers can reduce the excessive spreading of leaves. Generally grass leaves become bigger because of the excessive lawn irrigation. Try to water the lawn as the need arises.

· You may define the time when your lawn needs watering very simply. When the grass gets a bluish hue or it becomes dark green the time for watering has come (grass leaves began also to curl up and to bend). It is recommended to water the lawn early in the morning. At this time less water turns into vapor because of lower temperatures. Of course in the evening the water also does not evaporate very quickly. But still it is not advisable to irrigate your lawn in the evening because the grass will be moist all the night. It may cause the appearance of fungus diseases by your lawn.
· If the season of rains is approaching do not irrigate the lawn. If your sprinkler system works on timer, you should set a rain sensor. In the issue the supply of water will be stopped automatically.
· Your lawn may contain several spots that need more water. In order not to allow the overwatering of the lawn because of these spots, water them by hand. You can also resort to separate sprinkler systems for these areas.

· Every time when lawn watering, the water should moisten the soil to 8-12 inches (for blue grass it is 6-8 inches). This is an active root zone. The time and quantity of water depends on a sprinkler system and your soil type. Try to identify what time do you need for the right soil steep. In future you can install a timer on automatic irrigation appropriately.
· Monitor the quality of water. If the water contains much salt, magnesium or if its PH level is high you will need to use more water for lawn irrigation.
· Try to avoid small surface lawn irrigation. This may lead to decreasing of root system. In this case the grass will become liable to quick drying up. There will also appear a threat of insects that live underground. However it is also not recommended to allow excessive run off of the water. It should be taken into account that many types of soils absorb water differently, that is why in this case you may have recourse to several applications of lawn watering. First wait when the water penetrates deep into the soil and then you can continue the process of lawn irrigation.
